Input Data Requirements

Configuration requires a model of the available product, service or process options and the rules governing their compatibility. Technical constraints define which combinations are feasible, while the selected criteria provide a basis for comparing alternatives. Supplier and material information can support collaborative configuration. In CSSBoost, links with product-passport and digital-twin information are being developed to bring circular-product and value-chain data into this workflow.

Implemented Functions

The multi-criteria configuration environment supports the development of circular product and process options. A first mock-up has been developed for the reusable-packaging case in Pilot 3. CAS Merlin supports the configuration of products, services and circular value-chain arrangements using explicit rules and constraints. Users define which components and choices can be combined, and the configuration engine evaluates the consistency of the resulting solution. This is useful where a circular option must satisfy several technical and operational conditions at the same time. The platform combines a central rule model with guided configuration. Its modelling environment allows rules to be maintained without writing application code, while a satisfiability-based engine checks feasible combinations. Collaborative workspaces support the involvement of suppliers and other actors in the configuration process. CSSBoost extends this approach towards multi-criteria decisions that consider sustainability alongside other configuration requirements.

Planned Functions

Complete the configurator-to-DPP and digital-twin interfaces and validate the pilot-specific configuration with users.

Inputs

Candidate components and options, compatibility rules, decision criteria, constraints and user preferences.

Outputs

Feasible configurations and comparisons against selected rules and criteria, with pilot-specific validation in progress.

Interfaces / APIs

Interfaces for exchange with DPP and digital twins are in development.
