Pilot 4 Fleet Monitoring: Baselines and Forecasts

Which fleet populations and time periods support the operational assessment?
Overview
Baseline
Whole fleet: 2021-2025 observations and 2027 and 2035 forecasts. Selected vehicle segments: January 2023-July 2026.
Technical Details
The baseline provides a reference for interpreting operational information from the selected CARRIS buses. The pilot fleet is divided into diesel, compressed-natural-gas and electric segments, with five vehicles in each group. Measurements cover distance travelled, energy use and greenhouse-gas-related information, alongside maintenance and waste. Comparisons retain the reporting period and relevant vehicle characteristics so that differences in technology or service conditions are not confused with the effect of a circular intervention. Component recovery and reuse are followed through additional records, allowing their contribution to be examined separately from general fleet trends.
Separate the whole fleet, selected powertrain segments and the intensive 15-bus cohort; compare like-for-like services and periods.
Whole-fleet information combines energy, emissions and waste indicators with future scenarios. Vehicle-segment information covers distance, energy use, emissions calculations, service-affecting failure rates and immobilisation for groups of 15 electric, 20 natural-gas and 39 diesel buses. These groups differ from the intensive monitoring cohort of five buses per propulsion type. Service reliability and availability are included in the monitoring dimensions.
Whole-fleet, vehicle-segment and intensive-cohort data cover different populations and periods. Forecasts describe future scenarios. Electric-bus zero-emission entries refer to the operational reporting boundary.
