Technical Details
The feasibility study inventories potential organic feedstocks at national, regional and local scales, considering sewage sludge, livestock residues, aquaculture and food-processing streams alongside the organic fraction of municipal waste. Quantities and material characteristics provide the basis for examining potential combinations.
Mass and energy balances are used to explore mixture scenarios and methane-production potential in the context of the planned ASITE facility. The assessment connects feedstock availability with process and logistical requirements. It concerns a proposed co-digestion route and its feasibility, rather than measured performance of a newly commissioned installation.
Regional waste availability and alternative management routes to be defined in the feasibility comparison.
The Marche pilot is exploring a co-digestion scenario associated with ASITE in Fermo and a planned organic-fraction capacity of 35,000 tonnes per year. The study brings together feedstock availability, environmental permitting, laboratory methane-yield evaluation and mass and energy balances.
Feasibility stage. The 35,000 tonnes per year figure is planned capacity. Operation, methane yield and financial and environmental performance remain to be assessed.
