Description

CAS Merlin supports the configuration of products and processes using compatibility rules, requirements and sustainability criteria. In CSSBoost, a first mock-up explores reusable-packaging options in Pilot 3. Further work connects configuration with product passports and digital twins.

CAS Merlin supports the configuration of products, services and circular value-chain arrangements using explicit rules and constraints. Users define which components and choices can be combined, and the configuration engine evaluates the consistency of the resulting solution. This is useful where a circular option must satisfy several technical and operational conditions at the same time.

The platform combines a central rule model with guided configuration. Its modelling environment allows rules to be maintained without writing application code, while a satisfiability-based engine checks feasible combinations. Collaborative workspaces support the involvement of suppliers and other actors in the configuration process. CSSBoost extends this approach towards multi-criteria decisions that consider sustainability alongside other configuration requirements.
