Pilot 1 Circular Cultivation Protocol and Comparative Field-Trial Design

What cultivation route and comparison design are documented for faba-bean residue reuse in tomato production?
Overview
Demonstration Report
Two cultivation cycles
Technical Details
The cultivation protocol links faba bean production with subsequent tomato cultivation. Residues are shredded and incorporated directly into the soil. Three conditions are compared: no green manure, incorporation at flowering and incorporation after harvest. Soil analyses are carried out before and after incorporation, while SmartAgroGenious supplies continuous soil and microclimate observations. The comparison allows the timing of residue use to be examined in relation to the following crop. Repeated cultivation cycles and farmer involvement support the development of an applicable field practice rather than a separate residue-extraction process.
Unfertilised control compared with flowering-stage and post-harvest faba-bean green-manure treatments.
Faba-bean residues are shredded and incorporated into experimental fields, supported by soil and microclimate monitoring with SmartAgroGenious. An initial circular faba-bean and tomato cultivation protocol has been developed. Production costs prompted a shift from an isolated-biostimulant route to direct field incorporation.
Cultivation trials and treatment-level agronomic evaluation are ongoing.
